Doctors at the Hilltop Community Healthcare Center practiced from a double-wide trailer for nearly 10 years. Our team helped write the HRSA grant for the new space that increased their square footage 350%.
Thoughtful Balance guided a process involving many of the stakeholders from Hilltop, including a team of doctors, nurses, administrators, and staff, to develop a plan for the new space. We designed it to meet the Passive House retrofit standard. The size of the mechanical system was reduced by 50% due to improvements in the building envelope, saving a significant amount of construction cost AND future energy costs. The interiors were designed with a combination of new and salvaged furnishings, and the EPEAT standard was used to select the electronic equipment.
The new facility received a LEED CI certification.
