We designed a group of single-family houses in the heart of Highland Park for Platform at 930 – a collaboration of Eco-Craft Homes, Positive Energy Development, and Highland Park Community Development Corporation.
Two blocks from the Bryant Street shopping district and minutes from Highland Park these homes will offer the best of city living. Designed to meet Passive House standards, they are likely to be the greenest houses in the neighborhood. The 3-bedroom, 2-1/2 bath homes have interior spaces that are open and flooded with light. The top-floor master bedroom has a walk-in closet, luxury master bath, and a Juliet balcony. Down the hall a roof terrace overlooks the neighborhood. Two bedrooms, a shared bath, and a laundry are on the second floor. The open-plan first floor has a living room that opens out to the deck and yard, a kitchen with island seating, and a dining room. A fully conditioned lower level is suitable for a game room, workout space, playroom, or home office. The two-car parking pad is accessed from the rear alley. Custom cabinets, hardwood floors, stainless appliances, WaterSense faucets, quartz countertops, open stairs, and recessed lighting let the rich materials and quality of the house be expressed with simple clean lines. Owners have the opportunity to customize their own finishes. The extremely quiet, high quality European triple-pane windows can operate as both casements and awnings.
Platform at 930 houses will be built to Passive House standards. The heating/cooling bill for each house is estimated to be less than $35 per month. The houses will be Net-Zero ready; the owner can choose to install solar panels on the roof for a Zero Energy house.
